What to check before you buy an at-home LED face mask in India: wavelengths, LEDs, fit, battery, safety information, invoices, warranty and returns.
Start with the light it uses
Light colour is set by its wavelength, measured in nanometres (nm). A good listing tells you the wavelength of every mode, not just the colour name. If a seller can't tell you the wavelengths, you can't compare masks fairly.
Many masks pair visible light with near-infrared (around 830–850 nm), which sits just beyond what our eyes can see. GLOAM lists all four of its modes: Red 630 nm with 850 nm near-infrared, Blue 470 nm, Purple 410 nm with 850 nm, and White 465 nm with 850 nm.
Look at coverage and fit
- LED count and spread: more LEDs spread evenly cover more of the face. GLOAM has 256 LEDs across the whole mask, with an eye opening.
- Material: soft, flexible silicone sits closer to different face shapes than a rigid plastic shell. GLOAM is food-grade silicone inside and out.
- Weight and straps: you'll wear it for 10–15 minutes, so it should feel comfortable. GLOAM weighs 354 g including the remote.
Think about how you'll actually use it
- Cordless or cable: a detachable battery lets you move around during a session. GLOAM's 3.7 V, 1200 mAh battery lasts about 6–7 sessions per charge.
- Timer and controls: a built-in timer means you don't have to watch the clock. GLOAM has 3 timer settings on a remote control.
- Session length: check the maker's recommended time, and follow the user manual.
Read the safety information
An at-home LED mask is a cosmetic device for external use. A responsible seller says who shouldn't use it and when to stop, for example on broken or irritated skin, or if irritation occurs. If you're unsure whether a mask is right for you, ask your doctor first.
Be careful with big promises. If a listing makes medical claims or promises particular results, ask the seller for the evidence behind them.
Check the paperwork (this matters in India)
- Legal Metrology details on the box and listing: MRP, the importer's or maker's name and address, country of origin, net quantity and a customer-care contact.
- A GST tax invoice in your name, by email or in the box.
- Warranty terms in writing: how long, and how to claim. GLOAM comes with a one-year warranty.
- A clear return window: GLOAM accepts returns within 30 days of delivery, as set out in its Refund and Return Policy.
- An official seller: buy from the brand's own site or its official marketplace listing, so the warranty and invoice are genuine.
